Software as a service (SaaS) is a type of cloud service that offers software solutions as a product, hosted by the cloud service provider on a subscription basis.
You can access the software products over the internet while the cloud service provider manages and maintains the software. SaaS abstracts the software application’s underlying infrastructure and provides a user interface which hides the backend components of the product.
Users are able to use SaaS applications without handling the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the product. An example of a SaaS product is Discord, a communication platform where users can create servers with text, voice, and video channels. The underlying infrastructure of Discord is hidden by its user interface.
